The AVR waste-to-energy plant was hit by a major fire in 2023. As a result, waste treatment and energy supply came to a halt. AVR has now started rebuilding. Reconstruction work soon began under the name Project Phoenix. Phoenix includes a number of major projects, as well as temporary emergency facilities. The biggest project is the new construction of the steam power plant. To that end, Ferris is providing the new Steam Power Plant building with an entire steel structure and all the necessary cladding.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n\n

Ferris worked on both the lower part of the new steel structure, as well as on the ‘superstructure’. The latter structure was assembled in several stages. This completes the main structure. We also worked on the stair tower on the east facade. Worth mentioning is the collaboration with fellow contractors and the mutual coordination of work. Concurrently with the work on the Steam Power Plant, Ferris is working on the OSBL (Outside Battery Limits) route at the AVR site, which is also part of the Phoenix project. We are doing this on behalf of Equans. We designed, supplied, and assembled a new pipe rack structure for the new, low-pressure steam pipes running towards the Steam Power Plant. This a stretch of about 160 metres! A major challenge here was fitting part of the pipe rack into the existing, very compact corridor.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n\n
