In the Port of Antwerp, Evonik Antwerp is building a new energy foundation for the future. With the ECLUSE II and Steam@ANT projects, Evonik is taking an important step in the energy transition. The connection to the ECLUSE II district heating network provides sustainable steam through industrial residual heat, while Steam@ANT modernizes and makes its own steam supply more flexible. <\/p>\n

Both projects reduce dependence on fossil energy and bring Evonik closer to the CO\u2082 reduction targets it has set in line with its sustainability strategy.<\/p>\n

Ferris is responsible for nearly all steel structures for both Steam@ANT and the connection to ECLUSE II. Its role goes beyond execution alone. From the engineering phase onward, Ferris actively contributes to the design, manufacturability, and integration within the existing site. This is done in collaboration with multiple contractors, requiring a high degree of flexibility, precise coordination, and a continuous focus on quality throughout every phase of the project. <\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n

Over the past months, the key components of the project have increasingly taken shape. Equipment such as the deaerator and two new steam boilers arrived on site and were carefully integrated. Each of these installations relies on a solid physical foundation \u2014 an area in which the expertise of Ferris plays a crucial role. <\/p>\n

It is a versatile project. Ferris is responsible for, among other things, platforms, access systems, pipe supports, and supporting structures that not only carry the new installations, but also ensure they remain safely and efficiently accessible for operational teams. What may appear from the outside to be purely steel construction actually forms the physical backbone of Evonik\u2019s future energy system. <\/p>\n

For Evonik, Steam@ANT is a strategic investment that supports the energy transition, further electrification, and CO\u2082 reduction. By combining sustainable steam from ECLUSE II with modern boiler technology, an energy supply is being developed that can respond flexibly to the needs of the production process. The project demonstrates that industrial chemistry and climate awareness can go hand in hand, provided there is the ambition to invest in innovative infrastructure and strong partnerships. <\/p>\n
