Working together on demanding steel projects: that’s what gets us hot at Ferris. Building new plants, converting current sites or maintenance during a plant shutdown: we offer support with solid steel solutions. We find anything that deviates slightly from the standard both challenging and energising. This makes us a good partner for steel structures in environments that require an extra step. Flexible collaboration, solid solutions — you can hold us to that.
Without each other, we are nowhere. We need each other to achieve the best, high-quality solutions in steel. This is how we worked then and how we still work today. That is Ferris’ strength. Sparring together, coming up with new ideas, and suggesting creative alternatives. What is unique about this is that we combine manpower with brainpower. In doing so, we hold our own, from engineering to assembly to service and maintenance.
Ferris is traditionally a family business. The company was founded in 1955 in Terneuzen as a construction company called Eyke-Hogendoorn. Through crane and machine rental and the addition of Amerplastics (1973) and Fiberstruct (1989) gave the Eyke-Hogendoorn Group more and more opportunities to serve its clients optimally. In 2011, Eyke-Hogendoorn’s steel division was renamed Ferris Structural Steel. The Eyke-Hogendoorn Group itself continued under the name Syndus Group.
Ferris now has over 115 employees. We are an accredited training company and encourage employees to continue developing throughout their careers.

We are at our best when our entire team is involved: design, manufacturing, and assembly. High quality is a matter of course for us. From Terneuzen, Hoogvliet, and Ghent, we serve clients in industry, chemicals, energy, food, and construction.

At Ferris, we see safety culture as more than just compliance with rules and procedures. Safety is an attitude and an awareness that permeates everything we do. In our industry, working safely is essential, which is why we focus extra attention on promoting safety awareness and behaviour.
Within our safety culture programme, the Safety Culture Steering Group plays a crucial role. This steering group, consisting of a team of committed Ferris employees, monitors our safety standards and continuously works on concrete improvements.

We are proud to have achieved Level 3 certification on the Safety Culture Ladder in 2024. The Safety Culture Ladder is an assessment method to measure safety awareness and conscious safe action (culture and behaviour) in companies. Achieving the Level 3 certificate indicates that safety plays an important role within Ferris. It shows that we have a proactive attitude when it comes to safety, that we work systematically to improve our safety procedures and culture, and that we are aware of risks and actively work to prevent accidents and incidents.

Step by step towards a more sustainable future: Focus on CO2 reduction and sustainable growth
At Ferris, we actively work on sustainability by seizing upon measures to reduce our carbon footprint. We are part of the Syndus Group, which has been analysing its CO2 emissions annually since 2012, with ‘knowledge is power’ at its core. This offers a picture of our energy consumption and helps set concrete targets to further reduce emissions. With certification at level 3 of the CO2 performance ladder, we have insight into our emissions and can actively work on reduction programmes. Here, the focus is on balancing ecological, economic, and social interests, striving for sustainable business processes.
